Landscape

You can take lots of walks in the Ticino valley woods: there are unpaved roads, or simple paths. When going into the woods wear suitable clothes and footwear, because there may be puddles and mosquitoes. It is better to go there by bicycle and it is advisable to go along the known roads which are better recognizable after getting information on the ways you want to take. You may rent a mountain bike at the Camping Ticinia, via Edison 1 (Tel. 0381-347348). The vegetation in these woods which are often 3 or 4 km. deep consists in broadleaves. In particular you may find: oaks, black poplars, poplars and brambles and, where the ground is wet, a lot of ferns. In the woods there are lots of animals, such as pheasants, wild boars, weasels, snakes (some vipers) ducks, wild ducks or mallards, water hens, coots, herons and along the river little egrets, sea swallows and some specimen of the very coloured king fisher.
